News Update – 19/09/2025

Dear Parent / Guardian / Colleague / Board Member,

Child Protection.

We are currently in the process of receiving training on the ‘Child Protection Procedures for Schools 2025.’ This will be rolled out nationally over the coming year. Staff will be meeting regularly to update our policy accordingly. More updates as and when they become available.

Ethos.

Fr Michael is in the process of drafting up the calendar for both Rg 2 and Rg 6 pupils in their preparation for the Sacraments of Penance / Holy Communion and Confirmation next spring. He hopes to circulate a letter to families involved next week. Pupils and staff will participate in the 10 am mass in Fourmilewater Church on Wednesday 1st October next to mark the start of the new academic year.

Promotional Video.

Alexandra Whelan (parent) has put together a short two-minute video with music highlighting all that is good about our school. This will be used for promotional purposes from this autumn onwards. Sincere thanks to Alexandra and all our staff and pupils for their cooperation on the project. It can be accessed here. BMC NS Promotional Video

Summer Stars Reading.

Congratulations to our boys and girls who signed up for the summer reading programme at either Clonmel or Dungarvan libraries. We had many this year. Please see photo on social media. Always remember – ‘a book is a gift you can open again and again’ and ‘reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body.’

In Service Days 2026.

Oide has issued our Primary Curriculum training days for spring 2026. They are 10th February and 12th May. These weren’t to hand at the time the academic calendar was published. Please mark them off. We will update the Calendar for families early in Term 2.

Summer Works.

I’m glad to report that while the vast majority of work is now complete, the electricians are still working from the boiler house. The new system should be up and running once commissioning is complete. The first deadline of returning the school to us was Wednesday 27th August and the second deadline for full operation is circa 1st October. The snag list and repainting elements will be tended to during the Halloween break. We are thankful to all who helped in any way with this mammoth task.

After School Club.

I have been asked to remind parents that the after-school service is open from 2 pm for infants and 3 pm for Rg 1-6 if the pupils are not being collected directly after school or travel on the late bus. Thanks for your cooperation in this regard.

Is mise,

Michael J. O’Ryan
