News Update – 24/03/2023
Dear Parent / Guardian / Colleague / Board Member,
Child Protection Questionnaire – Thanks to those who answered the call on this last weekend. It was issued to meet our Child Protections obligations. We had a 30% uptake and thankfully all respondents answered YES to questions 1 & 2. We received a few suggestions to questions 3,4 & 5 and we brought them to Board when reviewing our policy.
Defibrillator Position – We have purchased an insulated unit to house our recently acquired defibrillator. Once mounted on the back wall and connected to the supply grid, it will be accessible to one and all. This we hope will be complete in the next few days. Our Eircode is E91 E426 and this will be written on the unit. The Community Centre has also acquired an external defibrillator and is offering CPR & AED training on Thursday 2nd March, to those who register online. It will run from 8-9:30pm. There is limited availability. If interested, please contact Seán on 087-7712159.

GAA Coach – Our hurling coach Katie O’Meara, (with connections to Bawnfune) called today and will join us again for the next two Fridays. We are also very grateful to our local coaches / club members, who have agreed to offer their time to train our pupils during lunch.

Upcoming Events
Seachtain na Gaeilge – This we celebrate each year in the lead up to Lá ‘le Pádraig. We will celebrate our Irish culture through our language, music and dance. It’s important to encourage each other, pupils and adults alike to speak ár teanga dhúchais, chomh minic agus is féidir. Two seanfhocail to start off mí Márta are;
- Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí. – Praise the youth and they will deliver
- Ní neart go cur le chéile. – There’s strength in unity.
World Book Day – We celebrate world book day on Thursday 2nd March 2023. Tokens will be distributed to children to purchase a book at a participating store. On the day, they are encouraged to bring a favourite book to school along with an item of clothing, depicting a favourite character. (We will have a fully themed Irish costume day immediately prior to St Patrick’s Day.)
Sacrament of Penance Reminder – Our Rang 2 pupils from both the Nire and Fourmilewater will receive the Sacrament of Penance in Fourmilewater Church on Wednesday week 8th March at 7pm. Please follow instructions as per Miss O’Keeffe & Mrs. Coffey.
