News Update – 25/11/2022

Dear Parent / Guardian / Colleague / Board Member,

P.T.M. – Thanks to all teachers and parents for your cooperation in the staging of the Parent Teacher Meetings. Teachers are available to meet with any parents who were unable to attend. Please contact them at Christian name @ballymacns.com to arrange an appt outside of teaching time. Email addresses are also on our website.

Girls’ Plate Final – Hard luck to our girls who lost out to Cappoquin in the plate final last weekend. The score was 6:1–3:5. Thanks to Mrs Byrne & Miss Boyce as mentors.

Quiz. – Well done to our Rg 6 pupils, Mikey, Devin, Charlie and Taylor who came 2nd at a quiz in Touraneena N.S. last week. They missed out on first place by one score.

Jubilee Concert – Our Concert will be held over two nights at Ballymacarbry Comm. Centre on Mon 19th & Tues 20th Dec at 7:15 pm each night. This is our first staging in three years. Tickets will be € 6 each and will go on sale next week. They will be sold as ‘Monday Tickets’ or ‘Tuesday Tickets’ and unfortunately are non- transferrable. Due to our large number of families and capacity constraints at the Centre, each family will be given the opportunity of purchasing 2 tickets per night. These will be held until Friday 9th December.

If there are spare tickets after this, they will be released to families in ones, on a first come – first serve basis. This, we feel is the fairest method of distribution. Families will have two weeks to organise their tickets with Rose/Class Teacher. (Please put name and family No. on any envelope sent into school for tickets.)

W.S.P. – Athletics Coaching and Balance Bike training are ongoing for pupils between Junior Infants and Rg 4.

Danny Norris – We extend our best wishes to our pupil, Danny and his family during his convalescence in the Children’s Hospital, Dublin. Latest update from mum is that ‘he is progressing slowly but steadily and working hard to get home as soon as he can. He’s looking forward to a certain TV show later tonight.’

Advent – This weekend, we enter the advent season “Advent” means the coming of Christ, so the period leading up to Christmas is known as Advent. On each of the four Sundays preceding Christmas, an Advent candle is lit. The 4 candles of Advent names are hope, love, joy, and peace.

On Monday we will light our first candle. This symbolizes a shining light in anticipation of the coming of Christ. It is usually a purple candle. It represents God’s forgiveness of sins. Purple is traditionally the most important of the Advent candle colours. It is the colour of liturgical garments used for vestments and is associated with prayer, contemplation, repentance, and hope. Deireadh Seachtaine – All that’s left for me to do is to wish Miss Boyce & the Ballymacarbry Ladies the best of luck in the All-Ireland Club Semi Final in Fraher Field, Dungarvan tomorrow at 1:30pm and hope you all enjoy the Toy Show later.

Is mise,

Michael J. O’ Ryan – Principal
