News Update – 27/05/2022

Dear Parent / Guardian, Colleague & Board Member,

Condolences:

Our thoughts go out to the families of the 19 primary school pupils and 2 teachers who were killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday last. May they rest in peace.

Holy Communion:

We have completed our Holy Communion programme for 2022. Congrats to the boys and girls. Thanks also to all those who helped in any way both internally and externally. Also word of thanks to the parents of Rang 2 children who presented the teachers with a token of appreciation recently. Please see our Facebook page for actual presentation.  Attention now turns to confirmation on June 21st.

This week:

Our Rang 6 students attended mass on Wednesday and enjoyed a Confirmation Retreat hosted by Staff from the Holy Family Mission, Glencomeragh. Our pupils received the Sacrament of Reconciliation also. From the feedback I received, they really enjoyed the day and Pat and his team were excellent. This in-house retreat was a first for us at school and saved the expense of travelling to Glencomeragh.

Next week:

2 School tours will take place during the week ahead. Tuesday we go to Ardmore Open Farm (Juniors / Miss O’Keeffe’s Class and all of Rang 2) and Friday our Rang 5/6 pupils will travel to University of Limerick. Money is being collected for all tours. We will do a review of all future tours and pricing later this year due to increased transportation costs. Please feel free to contact me if this is an issue.

Our hurlers will contest the Western Final Roinn A on Wednesday evening at 6pm in Dungarvan Club GAA Grounds.

Our current Rang 5 will travel to Raheen College, Clonmel for taster classes on Thursday next.

Go Fund Me:

This is a link to contribute to past pupil, Aisling Kennedy’s Medical Expenses Fund. https://gofund.me/33cc94a6

The school will donate the proceeds from our Annual Cake Sale to Aisling family. This will take place in school on Thursday 16th June and will be organised by Rang 5 and their teacher / SNA.

Reminder:

The Boil Water Notice continues to be in operation at our school until advised otherwise. Please ensure that your child has adequate water supplies coming to school.

Start Date:

The New Academic Year will now start for pupils on Wednesday 31st August. This is a day earlier than previously advertised. Staff will return on Tuesday 30th August, 50 years to the day, after the school officially opened.

June Rang 6:

Parents of Rang 6 pupils will receive a further email at 6pm detailing important events for their last month in primary school.

Is mise,

Michael J. O’Ryan – Principal.
